The £90m Frenkie de Jong cost might lead Man Utd to offer four players to Barcelona

Express.co reports that Manchester United will have to pay a lot to get Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have requested £90million for the midfielder, but United may give one or two of their players in exchange.

Let’s examine four United players that may be part of a De Jong part-exchange.

Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood was loaned to Getafe for the season because United thought he had no future at Old Trafford. A permanent transfer in the summer would be best for everyone, and Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing him.

In January, it was claimed that the Spanish giants were interested in offering Greenwood Lionel Messi’s No. 10 jersey. Barcelona may be interested in United using Greenwood as a makeweight in a swap deal for De Jong, which may satisfy both teams.

Jadon Sancho

After his fight with Erik ten Hag, Jadon Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, perhaps ending his tenure at United. The England winger has two Bundesliga assists and showed flashes of the talent that drew United to him.

Antony

Since joining United two years ago, Antony has struggled, probably Ten Hag’s worst failure. He has failed to score or assist in the Premier League this season, so the Red Devils may gain from selling him to get rid of his £150,000 weekly wage.

Scott McTominay

One of United’s top players this season, Scott McTominay has scored eight goals in all competitions. He may not be good enough to start for the Red Devils regularly.

If McTominay was traded for De Jong, Barcelona would get a similar player without having to shop about. He may not fit at Barcelona or be interested in signing him.
