Manchester City has surged ahead of Liverpool in the quest to complete an £80 million deal

According to the most recent rumour from caughtoffside, Manchester City are becoming increasingly convinced that they will sign Jamal Musiala this summer. Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in the Bayern Munich attacking midfielder, but the Premier League champions may have the upper hand.

Musiala apparently declined a new contract offer at the Allianz Arena, according to the Daily Star. And this will undoubtedly lead to additional speculations that Musiala is pondering a move. City and Liverpool are among the teams hoping to persuade Musiala to leave Bayern this summer. Each team’s scouts were present when the Bavarians fell to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last month.

Bayern had offered £150,000 per week to extend the 21-year-old’s contract, which runs until June 2026. The 25-cap German international has four assists and nine goals in 28 games this season, making him a valuable component of Die Roten.

However, it was supposedly revealed to Manchester City last week that Musiala had opted not to sign a new contract. The former Chelsea youth product has played over 150 games for the German powerhouses. Although Liverpool is apparently interested in the midfielder, Manchester City is reportedly becoming more confident in landing him. Chelsea is also interested, however they may not have a realistic chance of a deal until they qualify for Europe.

Musiala is projected to cost at least £80 million and might be paid up to £200,000 per week. His current salary at Bayern is thought to be about £90,000. The German has previously made brief mention of a possible move to the Premier League. He stated last year: “The Premier League is the strongest and most appealing league in the world right now, but I feel at ease here and am focused on success with Bayern.” But you never know what may happen in a few years.”

The 21-year-old Musiala is already playing the finest football of his career, and if he joins Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, he will be one of the most promising young players on the team. Defenders will struggle to cope with Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Jamal Musiala on the same squad.
