Liverpool might bring back four players from injury against Nottingham Forest

According to express.co, a weaker Liverpool team, missing 14 injured and ailing players, advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals Friday night owing to the club’s young potential. Southampton were defeated 3-0 as the Carabao Cup winners extended their undefeated streak at Anfield to 29 games in all competitions, with two 18-year-olds – Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns – scoring.

And, with a positive vibe in the air, Liverpool will be ready for their next Premier League match this weekend. They head to Nottingham Forest at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Last season, they lost 1-0 at the City Ground against a club that was at the bottom of the standings.

The Reds defeated the same relegation-threatened opponents 3-0 at Anfield in October and will be hoping for another three points this time around. Victory would put them four points ahead of champions Manchester City, who play Manchester United in their rivalry at the Etihad on Sunday.

Liverpool’s prospects of a key road victory might be boosted by the return of up to four players who all missed the FA Cup win. Wataru Endo was missing due to a “proper knock” received at the Carabao Cup final. The Japanese destroyer was superb against Chelsea, and happily, the Merseyside club believes he will be fit for Forest.

Liverpool started both James McConnell and Bobby Clark in midfield against Southampton, with Joe Gomez playing an unorthodox role as the No. 6. Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic have all been sidelined.

Alexis MacAllister did not start but came on as a substitute for 30 minutes. In Nottingham, he should be teamed by Endo and the ever-present Elliott. Jurgen Klopp also hopes to use Dominik Szoboszlai off the bench. The Hungarian has not played since Chelsea’s league defeat last month. In that 4-1 victory, he worsened a hamstring ailment that had sidelined him for several weeks earlier in January.

Szoboszlai’s comeback would be huge at a time when Gravenberch and Jones will be out for at least the next two matches, while Thiago and Bajcetic would be out indefinitely. In attack, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz are both healthy and should start for Forest, especially after the Colombian was rested against Southampton. However, the Reds have had to cope without Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah for the past three games.
