Latest Chelsea injury news before of the Liverpool Carabao Cup final
According to football.london, Mauricio Pochettino hopes to have Thiago Silva back in the Chelsea squad for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. The seasoned defender was hurt in the Blues’ win over Crystal Palace earlier this month, but he might return for the team’s biggest game of the season this weekend.
Pochettino’s roster has been weakened by injury on multiple times this season, but he appears to be bringing a core group of players back to full strength. Levi Colwill, Christopher Nkunku, and Malo Gusto have all just returned from injury, and Marc Cucurella might soon join them after being sighted at Chelsea’s most recent training session at Cobham.

Liverpool is also suffering with a number of ailments heading into the final, with Jurgen Klopp missing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, and Diogo Jota, while Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah are huge concerns. With that in mind, football.london has looked at the most recent Chelsea injury news ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
Thiago Silva
Injury: groyne.
The Brazilian collapsed to the ground and was taken out of the game against Crystal Palace after seeming to be in pain in his groyne. Pochettino has offered Silva a chance to play in this weekend’s Carabao Cup Final.

Marc Cucurella
Injury: ankle.
Cucurella has not played for the Blues since December, when he suffered an ankle injury. The expected return date is March.

He sustained another hamstring injury in a match against Everton this month, only weeks after returning from injury in November. James shared an update on social media, showing him lacing up his boots.
James has subsequently travelled to Doha, Qatar, to speed up his rehabilitation. The trip is thought to have always been part of his recuperation plan. According to sources, he is hoping to return to contention for a spot in England’s Euro 2024 team.
What Pochettino has said: “I believe he is healthy. We were conversing, and he has begun his rehabilitation; he is one day closer to rejoining the group. This is quite encouraging; we are all positive around him, and we intend to assist and become involved in this manner.
“It’s always difficult for a player to have such a challenging, difficult season. Now is the time to start the recovery procedure. One day less till he is a member of the group, and we will approach it positively since the most important thing is to begin solving the problem and, of course, to assist him be strong and optimistic.”
Expected return date: March/April.
Carney Chukwuemeka
Injury: Ankle.
Despite having only recently recovered from injury, Chukwuemeka is back on the roster after sustaining a training injury. He is currently in doubt for the final.
According to Pochettino, “Carney Chukwuemeka suffered a twisted ankle and is out.”
Expected return date: unknown.
Robert Sanchez
Injury to the knee.
Sanchez injured his knee in December’s loss against Manchester United. He has been working on a return and was anticipated to be in the team at the Etihad Stadium, but he was not included. He’s been practicing with his teammates in preparation for the game.
Pochettino has stated: “Robert Sanchez is available. This is good news. Yes, it is usually beneficial to recuperate a player, and he was playing a lot. “Being available again is beneficial to the team.”
The expected comeback date is Sunday, February 25, in Liverpool (Wembley).
Benoit Badiashile
Injury: groyne.
He began the FA Cup match against Aston Villa but was substituted with 10 minutes remaining. According to football.london, Badiashile is set to be out for four weeks due to an injury.
Pochettino stated: “Badiashile, we need to examine him. We still have to wait for the scan. I hope that isn’t a major issue. We need to analyse immediately, and then we’ll know more about his predicament.”
The expected return date is March 2024.
