Manchester United will mercilessly sell pricey failure and compete with Aston Villa for thriving Serie A replacement

According to teamtalk, Manchester United and Aston Villa are both hoping to acquire a new right-back this summer, and sources indicate that they are pursuing the same candidate. According to Italian source Tuttosport, the Premier League duo have’sent scouts’ to see Torino player Raoul Bellanova’multiple times’ this season in preparation for a prospective transfer.

This season, he has made 25 Serie A appearances for Torino, scoring one goal and assisting five times. Statistically, this places him among Italy’s most inventive wingbacks. Bellanova is only expected to develop with experience, and Erik ten Hag has hinted that he may cut one of his players to create way for him in Manchester United’s team.

Manchester United will replace Wan-Bissaka with Bellanova.

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United are now ‘planning to trade’ Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the conclusion of the season, and they feel Bellanova would be a suitable replacement. Wan-Bissaka’s contract at Old Trafford expires in less than 18 months, so this summer might be their final chance to collect a reasonable compensation for his services if he does not sign an extension.

The right-back has suffered with injuries this season and has not played for the Red Devils in over a month. He was signed for £50 million (with add-ons) in 2019 and has never lived up to that price tag. It’s not surprising that Manchester United is exploring a move for Bellanova, especially given Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s desire to bring in young players with high potential in the summer.

Aston Villa are looking to add additional competition for Matty Cash, who has been in excellent form this season. Bellanova would fit well into Unai Emery’s system since he has the talent and enthusiasm to contribute to both defense and offense. With that in mind, it appears that Manchester United and Aston Villa may potentially test Torino’s resolve with bids for Bellanova in the coming months.

He has a contract with the Italian club until 2027, so they are unlikely to let him go cheaply. Luciano Spalletti is also considering bringing Bellanova up to the Italian national team, which would only raise his worth.
