According to dailymail.co, Dani Alves’ ex-wife posted a selfie on social media just hours after the former Barcelona full-back was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. On Thursday, the former Brazil international was convicted of sexually assaulting a lady in the restroom of an elite Barcelona nightclub on December 31, 2022.
The 40-year-old father of two has been on detention in Brians 2 Prison near Catalan capital since his arrest in January of last year, and he now faces his first night behind bars as a convicted sex offender.

Despite the devastating news for the ex-Barca singer, his former wife Joana Sanz has used the chance to publish a photo with her Instagram followers. Just a few hours after Alves’ sentencing, Sanz moved to social media to share a photo of herself before sharing another one that purported to show her out for coffee.
Alves maintained his innocence on February 7, after taking the stand on the final day of his three-day trial at Barcelona’s Audiencia Provincial court. He agreed to having sex in a bathroom at luxury Barcelona nightclub Sutton on December 30, 2022, with his 23-year-old female accuser, but claimed it was consensual.

The lady he was convicted guilty of raping acknowledged that Alves had forced himself on her when she testified in court behind her screen. A companion who was with her the night of the rape burst into tears as she described how the victim was ‘sobbing hysterically’ after exiting the little toilet where the crime took place.
If Alves was convicted, state prosecutors wanted a nine-year prison sentence, while a private prosecutor working for the victim demanded a 12-year imprisonment term at his trial. Back in June 2023, Alves acknowledged to cheating on his wife but claimed his innocence.
Alves apologised to his former partner when speaking with La Vanguardia from prison last summer. ‘The only person I have to apologise to is my wife, Joana Sanz,’ he explained. ‘The lady I married eight years ago, to whom I am still married, and with whom I plan to spend my whole life.
