Xabi Alonso may decide to coach their Premier League opponents instead of Liverpool
According to a report from caughtoffside, Guillem Balague, a Spanish football specialist, has spoken about the future and potential destination of Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso. The quiet January transfer window meant that Liverpool fans probably weren’t expecting any major news.
After that, Jurgen Klopp said that he will be leaving Liverpool at the conclusion of the current season. In order to take a vacation, Klopp will soon leave his position at Anfield after more than eight years in the Reds dugout.

Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, is the favourite to succeed Klopp at Anfield. The Bundesliga team’s prospects of being relegated have increased thanks to the Spaniard, who may now win the league championship. Guillem Balague, a Spanish football commentator on The Football News Show, has recently disclosed that Alonso and his agent have a “secret” plan in place.
Alonso reportedly said that, should he succeed at Leverkusen, his top three destinations were Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich (Balague). Alonso represented all three teams in his playing career, and it’s clear that he had a strong emotional connection with them.

“I’ll tell you a little secret,” said Balague. “When he went to Bayer Leverkusen, he told his agent ‘do you know what, I am thinking that if it doesn’t go well at Bayer Leverkusen, I’ll go back to Real Sociedad. But if it goes well, from here, it’s Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich.” “Let me add Manchester City to the equation and that’s where Xabi Alonso could go next. When, is a different matter,” he added.
Liverpool fans will hate the fact that Alonso joining Man City is a possibility, as confirmed by Balague. The former midfielder, who is a fan favourite at Anfield and formed a midfield partnership with Reds icon Steven Gerrard, has impressed fans and pundits with his coaching abilities this season.
The last team to beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title was Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund and now Alonso could do the same with his Leverkusen team.
